Why we started JOMACS

A note from Johnson Nuviadenu, one of our seven co-founders

JOMACS was started by seven engineers of African origin who were working across North America and Europe. We'd seen what a career in tech can do for a family and a community, and how many talented people never get a fair shot at one.

So we built the company around two ideas. Clients should get a dedicated, well-supervised team at a fair price. And good engineers, wherever they live, should get international work and competitive pay without having to move.

We also look after everything we build, which gives us every reason to build it well.

What we're researching

Johnson, one of our co-founders, is doing a PhD at the University of South Africa on AI and software delivery in the public sector. Here's what has come out of it so far.

We're always looking for good engineers, designers and testers. Most roles are contracts tied to a client project, and we help with equipment and internet.

Where are your engineers?
All over the world. We pick people for the skills your project needs, supervise the work from Calgary, and help with equipment and internet where it's needed. You get a dedicated team at a fair price.
Can you take over a system someone else built?
Yes. We start with a short review of the code and hosting, tell you what we find, and then agree a monthly retainer.
How do you charge?
New builds are billed by the hour against an estimate we agree up front. Ongoing support is a monthly or yearly retainer, and anything outside it is quoted before we start.
Who will I actually talk to?
Your Customer Success Manager. They're your main contact for everything, from day-to-day questions to planning what to build next.
What time zone do you work in?
Our leadership is in Calgary, on Mountain Time. Our engineers work across many time zones, so we can usually overlap with your working day, and work often keeps moving while you sleep.
